Quite a lot of what Cummings has to say has been reported (though not reported as widely as it should have been) but here is a former senior official admitting that the government unnecessarily let thousands of people die. It mustn’t be passed off as a Westminster gossip story.

Summary from Sir Michael Marmot’s Covid-19 review on why England’s death toll is so high: low quality governance; steep inequalities of power & resources; austerity leading to deprivation & depleted state capacity; & resultant health inequalities. Utterly damning.
