These criminals are very good at convincing ppl that they are real. Not everyone who gets 'conned' could be classed as vulnerable or easy to exploit. Anna is one such example.
I work with victims of both personal (like mine) and financial Catfish everyday. Both have the same behaviour to hook victims, personal ones often narcissists and financial scammers echoing this well documented script. I get extremely cross at the victim blaming. 2/

As you said, many think it wouldn’t ever happen to them but it can literally happen to anyone. The financial scamming industry is huge and not all ask for money just slowly collect information or even ask you to look after money (as a trusted friend of many years). It happens!
