This really hit home. My experience of this is different but similar, and one many women (some men) face. I was accepting of my catfish. His guise was that of a humble grounded guy. I had no reason to disbelieve him. I met him in person. He cried in front of me. He wasn’t real.

I've gotten myself into some dozy situations because I believed what guys told me. Just didn't occur to me to doubt them. I'm sure I'm not alone there.

As a Phillipa Gregory fan I think you will especially love "his red eminence" about Cardinal Armand du Plessis, duc de Richelieu. That's the book that won the 2019 godiva award for best self-published book.
