It’s an extreme case with him. Over 12 years, 17 targeted we know of. He lived a double life. My time with him was longest we know. Narcissistic- all the charm. Knew exactly how to manipulate emotions. Control. Deceive.
This really hit home. My experience of this is different but similar, and one many women (some men) face. I was accepting of my catfish. His guise was that of a humble grounded guy. I had no reason to disbelieve him. I met him in person. He cried in front of me. He wasn’t real.

I finds this happen a lot! We as girls and women socialized from a very young age to take what men/males say about themselves as truth -- without skepticism or consideration he might lie. But people lie all the time -- sometimes to disastrous consequences for their victims.

I’ve grown up around mainly males. I’m the only girl of 5 older brothers. I’m normally a really really good judge of character but this one had me floored.
