I was involved with a man I met online for almost a year. I discovered his name and identity were fake and that he was a lawyer. The law needs to change.

My ex partner tried to attack me in the court room, abused the judge attempted to climb a barrier to hurt me and had to be removed by a security team- is this someone who is safe to care for a scared 7 year old child?!the #familycourt thinks so @BorisJohnson @MoJGovUK @MyCafcass

No, he’s not. As an adult child of an abusive parent, I wish I could scream the damage from the rooftops so better decisions are made in these cases. I’m sorry. 😥

Thank you. I’m doing fine now but want better for the upcoming generations of children. I wish we could link adult survivors into the court training system somehow. Our suffering wouldn’t be in vain if we could make it better for today’s kids.

That is such an amazing idea and would make such a difference for survivor children in the system :)

I think we can convey what the textbooks can’t. My experience was covert narcissism/psychopathy, which looks very different to the outside world/teachers/professionals, who will absolutely believe this parent is a good person.

I said this when we went through our court case. An adult neighbour said the same as you regarding his parents separation and I said then- it’s the adult children need to be talked to about what it best not adults who never went through it saying this and that. New project?

Yes, exactly. It’s quite a complex thing to understand unless it’s happened to you because they can alternate between nasty and nice with their children (to keep them off-balance and easier to control). I’d be happy to help but wouldn’t know where to start.

I’ll see if there has been any research done already. It seems such common sense that the children who lived through the courts decisions should be primary research. I know several that said being forced to see both or live in two houses was very hard.
