My eldest is a train geek and ridiculously ( or incredibly helpful, however you want to look at it 
) knows the ins and outs of it all, so he plans our trips. However I find it extremely painful and tedious

We got caught in that on Tuesday. Had to get a bus from Welling to Eltham-then into London Bridge (before underground)....and back.
