It’s not about being intelligent. The non financial ones that are narcs love a challenge from an intelligent woman. Financial scammers use the behaviour patterns of narcs to groom and hook. It’s about the lack of self worth, esteem, and being vulnerable when they target you.
I would think the same now but it’s because I’m immersed in it every day. When it happened to me I was completely unaware of it and there had been plenty of stories before hand. Also you can think you’ve been careful by selecting a ‘reputable’ dating platform ( no such thing)...
