Mine lied about his finances to me so that I would continue to give him money so he would get out of the house. Then with a financial disclosure all became clear. He then tried to lie about his finances in court and he led the judge a merry dance - but she was clever
Mine did similar. He joyfully told the judge he had increased his mortgage payments on the house he got with the new one (whilst still trying to evict me and his 2 sons from our house) so had less free money. The Judge said well if you can afford to do that you can pay them too.

I remember thinking that if I hadn’t been so anxious about the whole process I would have quite enjoyed watching him squirm.

I just remember looking at him and thinking ‘how could a father use financial abuse to hurt their mother at their expense’. We weren’t married so he ‘owed’ me nothing but he still carried on the abuse through them. He’d had an affair, probably one of many.
