TV advice give impression/reassure that if you report illegal fake profiles/online abuse to police, victims get an understanding trained officer who will liaise with social media & identify the abuser within few days/weeks & will be a prosecution. The REALITY is VERY different.

Victims need to know some forces policy is only investigate online abuse IF it's a 'threat to life'. If do open case, takes 3 - 8 MONTHS to get 1st RIPA results, then another 3 - 8 months to get necessary ISP data. If offender found using non-password protect net router...1/2
