Not quite. Individual frauds, all kinds, gets overlooked unless the fraudster is scamming very large number of people or targeting vulnerable populations. Often it's about resources and likelihood of a good sentence at the end of it. Or are you talking about lying vs defrauding?
I know the loss has to be very high for police to act. I sat and listened to the head of online fraud discussing their stats at a committee in parliament. It’s the same country wide. Fraud is lying I believe

Yes I know. Problem is that a one-off case with a small loss will not get a sentence, which is a shame as that would certainly deter criminals so police prioritise. Scammers frequently keep amounts low to not be detected as low amounts don't even get reported by people.
