I was involved with a man I met online for almost a year. I discovered his name and identity were fake and that he was a lawyer. The law needs to change.

What the narcissist doesn’t understand is we do arrive there. Complete apathy happens. We don’t love them, we don’t hate them, we simply don’t care and their place and relevance in our lives is completely gone. #nocontact #permanentbanpic.twitter.com/WsU1ZgfqzA

I feel sorry for ours. I don’t hate him. I’m just sorry he doesn’t get to feel what real love is in his life. I hate what he does but I don’t hate him. I can’t hate someone who’s such a messed up character... #narcissist #catfish

They know what they do though. I don’t hate him, but I won’t feel sorry for anyone who intentionally abuses someone else.

I can’t agree more about the intention and abuse. Look what I’m doing, I’m fighting to get the law changed from our ones behaviour but lots of research shows it’s born from their own traumas.I’m maybe too empathetic, but they are adults, need to take responsibility for actions.

True. But empathetic does not mean sympathizing with your abuser. The issue I have with sympathizing with their past is their past is inconsequential to victims. We need to view the person as they are today, not what they experienced in their childhood or many victims get stuck.

Unfortunately victims that begin to look at their abusers as injured and unloved children are the victims that tend to want to remain in the cycle to fix or repair someone. They become more focused on the narcissist’s needs than their own with false hope.

Then I’m probably quite unusual as I do feel empathy for genuine trauma that anyone has suffered be that victim or abuser but I’m certainly not letting his or any other of victims of similar behaviour go unchecked.I’ve pretty much put my neck on the line to stop it and educate😉
