Police don't! value legislation to troll through a fake profile. They'll investigate if it's an online threat to life, repeated stalking, a hate crime, fraud, comes under the Protection of Harassment Act, Misuse of a Computer Act, etc etc. But you have to kick & scream at them

Yes you’re completely right. It’s there which gives it ‘value’ over ‘offences’ that are not there yet and should be but the police as in your case are lacking enormously in any kind of knowledge, investigation and prosecution from this.
