Right academics. Looking to set up my own website for a host of reasons. Inspired by the likes of @CairneyPaul @Bankfieldbecky and others.
Any advice? Should I be doing this myself or pay someone? Is it still worthwhile doing, in this day and age, or have we moved on?
Thanks

If you begin to visualise how it would look- banners, images, copy, different pages- and lay this out in a word doc you'll get a taste for if its simple enough to do yourself. I'm paying a developer £600 to create something nice in Wordpress as I haven't got the skill/patience!

Thanks for raising this. I had asked somebody under an advisory service scheme and got a confused response suggesting multiple thousands and hosting by the firm, with no real control by me

Yeh it's a really confusing space in terms of what platform to use, domain hosting, making sure you have full access to update.. This is my guy I'm working with- https://dab-online.co.uk/ Price wise it can easily go into the thousands for a profesh website, but that's overkill! :)
