Fourteenth Amendment 2 Constitution on July 9, 1868, citizenship of persons born in US has been controlled by Citizenship Clause: intention was 2 provide 4 citizenship to those born to people brought to country against their will. Not for those willfully coming to get freebies.

Good analysis. I don't think illegal immigration from Mexico and Central America was a problem in 1868.I think the original intent of the Fourteenth Amendment was to ensure that former slaves were not denied citizenship.

I don’t think the framers of the Constitution thought that semi-automatic weapons that fire bullets at alarming rate and used to kill massive numbers of Americans would be an issue either. If intent is the issue, then I don’t think we need a militia to fight the British

1-The framers of the First Amendment never foresaw smartphones, but nevertheless, smartphones are protected by the First Amendment as free expression, since they are what we commonly use to express ourselves nowadays.

Ms. Coulter, from what I've read, the phrase "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" is the key language. This qualifier frankly prohibits the whole "anchor baby" (by illegal aliens) concept. Am I reading this correctly?

No, you are not. "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" refers only to people not subject to US law. Basically, that only means the children born of diplomats who are sent here from other countries. See US v. Wong Kim Ark and Plyer v. Doe.

"Subject to the jurisdiction thereof" quite literally means that the person in question must be here LEGALLY. By definition, breaking U.S. law by entering the country illegally renders a person not "subject to the jurisdiction".
