That is not an accurate statement, but in any case: minorities are entitled to protection of their rights; they're not entitled to dictate to the majority, which is what some people are trying to do here.
You don't get to have the last word here. The majority can't continue to trample on minority. I am really sad for students at @UW that they have to be afraid of you.
Letting a tyrannical minority dictate to the majority is a recipe for a very unstable and discontent society. The majority should be convinced that it is a good idea. That road is much harder to travel but it leaves you with a more cohesive and less tribal society.
That is ideal, of course, and what many are trying to do. Still, there are many examples of that majority consensus only appearing after minority rulings. In fact, many societal advances would never be voted for by the majority.
