to be honest, I don't see any problem in the fact that he talked about your grant funders, especially that you are now working with DARPA and the US military, to further develop DL methods, these were the things against which Hinton has voiced his opinion boycotting such research
Not only @geoffreyhinton but bengio too, and even @ylecun, I think AI would be the last thing that we as a research community would want to see being used to destroy mankind and wage wars, and then the US also loses its right to criticise china for doing the same.
I think it would be fair to remark that out of one hour of video, less than a minute is spent talking about the acknowledgements. Besides, he explicitly does not judge saying "there is nothing right or wrong" about it. PS: I loved the paper and the video helped me understand it.
