I fear that that is just not true. Hannity and Limbaugh have peddled all kinds of lies and craziness for decades to millions on a daily basis. We are seeing, and living through, the effects of almost thirty years of propaganda being peddled daily on TV and radio.
But for decades we didn't get Trump and #QAnons member in congress. This extremism is because of unfettered social media.

I hope you are right. I just fear the issue is both systemic and way more complicated, and that tackling it will require us to make profound changes not just to the media landscape but to very way we structure our civilization.

Fully agree with you. What I am suggesting are baby steps. Bare minimum to make any debt.
