the ml community got this wrong. the ethical focus is overly on government use of ai but this has to follow (at least somewhat) democratic principles. I believe the bigger societal danger lies in tech dictatorship and manipulation.

Remember when people were responsible to maintain their own conscience through individual spiritual practice and normative ethical training was part of integral child training?

I guess I just long for the day when people in their 40s and 50s, raised by the 'Me" generation of narcissists, discard the delusion they are God. There is not some sort of vacuum there. Engineering is not a replacement for practiced divinity. They have proven they aren't God.
