      What about Chomksy or Rushdi? The sign of trouble is people w/ significant intellect on other fields discussing names instead of content. The main pillar of free speech is whether there is a call for harm to others or not, not being phobic of anything or not.

      The letter is not saying anything new, just reminding the simple fact that in a matter of time, powerless suffer more from lack of free speech. Chomsky is not an ordinary signee.

      A real sanity check would look at different feminist movements around the globe to assess Rowling's position (world \neq US). There are people who placed more at stake over long years and their view might be more important than resorting to a convenient echo chamber.
