So what is the solution? Sweep it under the rug? That's height of hypocrisy. No. Instead we discuss it openly. We don't ask people to shut up. We don't need heroes elevated to Gods. We can study them as humans with good and bad sides. That's a more balanced study of history.

My linear algebra professor (17 years ago now) said, in his introduction to the class, "I'm Sikh, not Hindu, and Churchill was a monster." I assume there was some history there. (He was a wonderful professor, now retired.)
