I'm so sorry and angry. If you have the energy, you should write this up in a paper as a case study.
This is so absurd! Even the language used ... even if they stop for a second and think about what they’re saying means it should be obvious. We have failed at educating folks why diversity matters not as a moral issue but as its actual impact on effectiveness of the work at hand.
Increasingly I have heard women (including myself) being told that someone wants to hire them because they are under pressure to increase diversity. So humiliating!
