I've been on the other side. I couldn't tell who was the speaker, even when the guy is from the same ethnicity as me. I don't remember details like how people are dressed, I can only tell them if I put them side to side. I wouldn't take it personal

Moreover when you when you constantly meet new people. I struggle to remember people's faces and names even if it sounds impolite
I try to practice new names a lot tho

Being half Indian myself, i find many white men look too similar to distinguish, so i make this type of error too. (No I am not advocating reverse racism.)
