NIPS -> NeurIPS makes sense (although I don't follow that area closely) but q supremacy is different because no specific group is being targeted by it. I think it's like other math words like dominates, hierarchy, inequality, that have unpleasant meanings in society but not math.

Please look at my Google search news results before coming to that conclusion. Most standard use of the term is white supremacy

1/2 Yes, and I saw other uses too, like "5G supremacy" or "retail supremacy." Should all those be dropped too, leaving it only for white supremacists? Just because a word reminds you of something bad doesn't mean we need to drop it.

2/2 I get the word association. I don't get the general principle. What about "discrimination" for classifiers? How much needs to be banned? Unlike NIPS, there is no clear minority being targeted.
