.@preskill when you coined name you had no bad intentions. I am aware of that. But I hope you help us create better inclusive communities. I don't know about issues in quantum community, but from my experience with #neurips name change can bring a sea of positive change

During
#protestNIPS name change movement, women were primarily attacked and trolled. I even got gun threats. It was an extremely stressful period for us. Some of them came from@sapinker followers after he attacked us and ridiculed us.5 replies 7 retweets 92 likesShow this thread -
Scott unfriended me on Facebook because I called out his terrible judgement to invite
@sapinker to write about#protestNIPS These so-called enlightened scientists have terrible blindspots that their egos prevent them ever overcoming. Truly disappointing!3 replies 13 retweets 105 likesShow this thread -
Both Scott and
@sapinker could have spent holidays with their families peacefully, as I had planned to do. Instead, they spread toxicity and shut down voices who are marginalized and facing discrimination in our scientific communities.#meToo

Name change debate unleashes vile comments on women. Something that men of privilege like @sapinker and Aaronson have to worry aboutpic.twitter.com/yLKWM1lH8t

#holiday toxicity from Scott continues. He doesn't have the courage to face supporters on my Twitter feed, instead he prefers to continue to rant in his own echo chamber. Unfriending me is a courtesy to me! not giving me credit for bringing up issue is a credit to me!pic.twitter.com/HJ68lW5XLA

One more toxic comment from Scott Aaronson. His misogyny in full display. Only men make sense to him.pic.twitter.com/avyJ6pgvPm

Sadly Scott Aaronson closed his thread and didn't even let me address. Very definition of silencing. He equates struggles of women and minorities to aspbergery males! The tone deaf nature of his comments is truly disappointing. He squandered a valuable opportunity to be an ally.pic.twitter.com/XkZtm2f6nN

Scott Aaronson's comments further reveal his biases. His blind admiration of Pinker is sad for someone who claims to be a scientist and open minded. Sexism and racism is never experienced from someone with privilege. And comparing Pinker to Marie Curie (barf!)pic.twitter.com/x2BpiNy9y3

Read my latest blog post detailing recent events around naming of
#quantumsupremacy and parallels it shares with#neurips name change. Also cluelessness of privileged men like@sapinker and Aaronson https://anima-ai.org/2019/12/26/quantum-supremacy-the-neo-nazis/ … Happy holidays!pic.twitter.com/LsV16r7qd1

When original title made multiple uncomfortable, I changed it. Unlike Aaronson and @sapinker I am open to changes that create a better environment! Names are powerful. People are quick to call out my usage of neo-Nazis but turn a blind eye to NIPS/Supremacy issues

Aaronson had to get to last slide on
#neurips name change http://tensorlab.cms.caltech.edu/users/anima/slides/CRACT-2018.pdf … to know about@sapinker stance. Talk about cognitive bias to ignore mountain of evidence and to feature only@sapinker@celestekidd would have some thoughts on this.0 replies 0 retweets 1 likeShow this threadThanks.
