I’m stupefied by the arguing (which some call ”war”) going on within the ML community. Do some people actually think in such black’n’white dogmatic ways? And do some people actually think that they have a ”leader”? Honest question.

Nope. And nope. This are just strawmen from Anima. Plenty of deep learning researchers do Bayesian research, and Yann LeCun is hardly a leader these days.

I hope we could avoid getting too personal and have a reasoned discussion (not ”war” again!) I just wanted to make an honest question. The way I was trained to do science is to avoid dogmas and to use whatever works. Certainly not to hail a great leader.

"use whatever works" describes deep learning community pretty well. Too well, in fact. The reason Bayesianism or Symbolism is not popular inside DL is precisely because they don't work, and it's not because of a lack of trying.
