I informed Scott Aaronson about #protestNIPS regarding quantum supremacy naming issues. Yet, he didn't even bother to respond or credit me and proceeds to invive @sapinker to write about it! wtf! How is @sapinker an authority ?? He is not part of our community or its struggles.

Scott Aaronson's comments further reveal his biases. His blind admiration of Pinker is sad for someone who claims to be a scientist and open minded. Sexism and racism is never experienced from someone with privilege. And comparing Pinker to Marie Curie (barf!)pic.twitter.com/x2BpiNy9y3

Read my latest blog post detailing recent events around naming of
#quantumsupremacy and parallels it shares with#neurips name change. Also cluelessness of privileged men like@sapinker and Aaronson https://anima-ai.org/2019/12/26/quantum-supremacy-the-neo-nazis/ … Happy holidays!pic.twitter.com/LsV16r7qd1

When original title made multiple uncomfortable, I changed it. Unlike Aaronson and
@sapinker I am open to changes that create a better environment! Names are powerful. People are quick to call out my usage of neo-Nazis but turn a blind eye to NIPS/Supremacy issuesShow this thread -
Aaronson had to get to last slide on
#neurips name change http://tensorlab.cms.caltech.edu/users/anima/slides/CRACT-2018.pdf … to know about@sapinker stance. Talk about cognitive bias to ignore mountain of evidence and to feature only@sapinker@celestekidd would have some thoughts on this.Show this thread

I love how Scott starts the whole thing off by saying he doesn’t have a dog in the fight, and then it’s like ... BUTpic.twitter.com/2JV79i5u0w

"Very definition of silencing." That sounds really bad, but you did state earlier in the thread "I will not respond anymore", so is it possible that he just thought you weren't going to respond? Probably I missed some later interaction.

You have been making excuses on my thread for Scott's poor behavior. So far I have given you benefit of doubt, but you are one tweet from getting blocked. I have no energy to deal with toxic people.

They're exploiting disability justice concerns for rhetorical points, but please don't be too dismissive. Autistic people really do struggle, particularly at an overstimulating, crowded conference where they're expected to constantly interact.

Echoing
@nsaphra, please don't be too dismissive of the struggles that people with autism face. I think there's room talk about struggles of more than one type. I think@celestekidd talk at#NeurIPS2019 was full of compassion. We can all use more compassion in this world. -
Thanks for flagging it
@yisongyue My intention was to flag Scott trying to equate his struggles as a man on spectrum with struggles of women and minorities. The two are not equal by any means. I have utmost empathy for people on spectrum since I am actually one. - Show replies
