I don't think it is fair to pick one of the many tweets by @NobelPrize on the Economics nobel laureates. They quoted all of the winners separately.

You are correct. Just for others who may come across this thread - I had mistakingly assumed
@AnimaAnandkumar may have missed this quote. I had incorrectly understood her objection. That's entirely on me.
Almost everywhere I go people assume I am with the guy next to me..happens at conferences, airports, hotels..any place you name it. People have later confessed that they only realized much later that they made such a mistake and didn't know my technical credentials

That is indeed very sad and I am hopeful that this will change soon. I am a computational biologist by training, which generally has a better balance of the genders but since I moved to more mainstream ML, I have noticed a more male dominated culture.

However, thanks to powerful female voices such as yours, I am sure we're headed to a more diverse and less toxic culture in our respective academic areas.
