Agreed! Why not make it symmetric. Just trying to distinguish this case from unambiguously horrible headlines where truly Prof. Esther was mentioned only as "the wife" and not named or celebrated in her own right.

It might just be a local thing. In France, most headlines were "Esther Duflo wins Nobel Prize", then further down "and two other people as well", then even further "and one of them is her husband", because she is more famous here.

Beyond the lack of respect, I found these communications to be genuinely confusing. Took me a while to understand what actually happened. By focusing on the relationship more than the scientific accomplishments, it dilutes the message and just sounds bizarre.
