I thought Pinker’s recent work had been widely discredited as full of inaccuracies (and lacking sources)?

Hmmm, the sources I’m finding mainly critique the historical and philosophical aspects of the work, e.g.: https://newrepublic.com/article/147391/hype-best … I haven’t read it, so this is only a second-hand opinion, but the more I learn about Pinker, the more troubled I am.

Having read both, I still recommend the book of Pinker
Would love to chat once you’ve read it.3 replies 0 retweets 9 likes -
Surprised to hear you recommend such shallow punditry and shoddy research. I'm sure you wouldn't accept such low quality work in your own field.

There are plenty of academics who are making a genuine effort to grapple with these important issues. But Pinker is clearly not. https://www.currentaffairs.org/2019/05/the-worlds-most-annoying-man …

Academics should try to understand and engage with criticism. Pinker does not. https://mobile.twitter.com/i/web/status/1091410380499210240 …

Hey Nando -- I would like to bring to your attention some of the views Pinker has expressed in the past: 1) Pinker was in not support of NeurIPS name changehttps://twitter.com/sapinker/status/1070364941494992896?s=19 …

Thank you. Supporting work of a misogynist and a racist lends more strength to his abhorrent views. @NandoDF please reconsider

Thanks for sharing. I wasn’t aware and find it disappointing. I read the book solely and thought it was good. I still think it is good, but of course one must read it with the same skepticism as any unpublished paper.
