I don't think signing digital media would solve this problem. Any processed video would be unsigned, just like today. You might know whether a video was produced by a news organization, but most of these videos are known to not be from one, and are still viral.

It might be easier to sign the source directly: embedding signatures directly in the camera/envoder should enable non-tempered images/video.

My view on any type of AI generated audio or video it should always have non removable watermarks or audio signatures. Then every social media platform and chat service should be able to detect those signatures and label them as AI generated or altered content to stop false info
