It's interesting they felt the need to explain what NVIDIA was in your bio when this article seems pretty focused on an audience who would already know...

Hah, indeed. Either it's nature's attempt to be all serious & journalistic for readers in some far and distant future, or they're just totally oblivious of what's happening in the real world.

Junior AI researchers are in demand... isn't a very good indicator of industry health.

I left my tenure-track job at an R1 a year before getting tenure (which I likely would have gotten) because I hated how academia treats people, particularly junior faculty. I took a job as an ML engineer in the valley where I feel I am treated with respect.

I understand the noble intentions of being in the academy, but I found the setting to be hostile and abusive. I would much rather leave and be treated with respect and valued for my work than stay and remain a figurative punching bag.

Anima, do software product designers & product managers working with data have research appeal for AI MS & PhD? I have been researching programs for year at
@Caltech CAST@MITCSAIL &@StanfordAILab. I don’t see tracks for folks outside of math, physics & cs. Would love to chat...Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
