Personal aside: I'm glad the people in NVIDIA's videos have some semblance of diversity but when the CEO keeps referring to his teams as "the guys", it undermines it. Hire #marginsci folks, don't tokenize us.

I think "you guys" has less a gendered connotation than "the guys", yknow ?

Hey
@AnimaAnandkumar -- I struggle with the same thing, especially when addressing my gender neutral collaborator. Here is a timely list of suggestion from@krees that provides great alternatives:https://twitter.com/krees/status/1106617681116045312 … -

I like using 'team' or the kind of out-dated 'folks'.

I'm a folks evangelist

I have recently started making a conscious effort to switch to 'Hey folks!'

Can't find it now but saw recent research that showed most women in most situations view "guys" as gendered. It surprised me, and made me change my usage .

I have been in predominantly male environments (<5% women in most places I have been) since I was 18. So I don't trust my judgements and ask other women about what they consider problematic

I dont know, but from a very young age at home, I was brought up with these sensitivities and as a result, I have never ever made a mistake of using gendered phrases.. neutral ones like 'folks', 'everyone', 'you all' are always my favs..its just etched in the subconscience !
