Totally agree: it sometimes can be very infeasible to publicly host and share multi-TB datasets (my research can produce these without breaking a sweat). It’s a challenge.
But this can be solved. Public cloud companies like @awscloud host large public datasets.

But they want money for TB of data. And NSF might give you enough to start the storage but who maintains it when the grant ends? Oklahoma actually has an NSF funded infrastructure solution now and a new one being built. But it is a real issue for many people to share data.
