The name change fiasco by @NipsConference is part of a deeper problem. It is run like a dictatorship with no elections, no townhall, no transparency. Can't think of any other major conference run this way. #ai #ml deserves better. #ProtestNIPS

Wasn't a poll conducted on nips name change n it's result revealed ? If poll isn't democratic way to address an issue then what is it? Do you even respect polling as a democratic process ?
Polling within the NIPS "community" naturally favours the status quo, a bit like polling members of an all male golf club about admitting female members, or apartheid South Africans about sharing a bus with non white people
