Attended on wards this weekend & wanted to amplify an awesome strategy used by resident Dr. Andy Nandan (credit to ). Each day send a "Rounds Roundup" email of relevant teaching pearls. I do this as the Attg sporadically. Always well received

5| FWIW, I personally still favor using the over paper charts, as it makes my life easier and improves my ability to care for patients. But it is far from maximizing it's potential

In the year 2020 (in my voice): give a lecture to a room of 20-30 folks AND post your slides with commentary and get 300+ RT and 900+ likes. Imagine if we had voice narration overlaying each slide

As a reader, peer-reviewer, & editor, there is a huge amount of trust that the authors constructed the dataset correctly. These retractions are worrisome because these are only the tip of the iceberg w/o easy solutions to uncover the rest. Even w/ , requires sleuthing

Before academic health systems advance health worldwide, the mission should first be to the public it serves!

Imagine telling a person being screened "if u get this test u have a 13% risk of death (10yr), & if you don't u have a 13% risk of death; & that risk is indistinguishable; but your risk of lung cancer death goes from 3.2 to 2.4%, which may or may not be offset by harms & deaths"

Quick thoughts: Lung-cancer specific mortality RR 0.76 Overall mortality RR 1.01 (not in abstract ;)) Overdiagnosis estimated 8.9% ~98% never had a positive result (couldn't be helped) So none of our fundamental conundrums about cancer screening have been answered ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In the United States, we have rationing too. But it's further out of sight. It's not done by the government. It's done by parents, standing outside emergency rooms, too scared to bring their sick kids inside for fear of a major bill.

Requiring master’s degrees for teachers hurts their finances, decreases the pool of eligible teachers, and doesn’t improve instruction. So why do states require or financially encourage them? Universities are a powerful interest.
