For decades, the Hyde Amendment has permitted the government to discriminate in the delivery of health care services by excluding abortion care from the health care services provided to low-income people through the federal Medicaid program.pic.twitter.com/3NR0MbqOKC

Does it seem fair to you that a low-income person should be offered a limited set of health care services just because they're poor? Because that's what the Hyde Amendment does. It cuts off access to health care based on how much money you have.pic.twitter.com/oZfWNFES9i

It's not just poor people. If you're in the military or employed by the government or in federal prison or if you receive health care through the federally-funded Indian Health Services program, you're cut off from abortion access too (except in cases of rape, life endangerment)

Anyhoo, advocates and organizers secured a promise from Biden during his campaign that he would not be submitting budgets containing the Hyde Amendment. And he kept his promise. And that illustrates that it IS possible to move Biden left. Abortion rights advocates did it.pic.twitter.com/vn3MFTdedx

P.S. As
@nwlc points out, there's still some anti-abortion garbage in the budget—the Weldon Amendment—and it needs to go.https://twitter.com/nwlc/status/1398341082694488073?s=20 …Show this thread -
P.P.S. Also? Say the word abortion, Joe. You know you want to. Just say it.pic.twitter.com/1Ie3PGNCck
