I'm logging in to use it to see first hand having used two different apps and Vote Builder last cycle and will be back with my thoughts. It sounds like they are helping to do voter targeting not signing people up for emails etc. But I will be back.

That chat shown in the screenshot is widely out of line. They shouldn't be encouraging anything other than engaging with folks. But the technical tools this app makes available have been available for any canvasser on any campaign for many years now.

Also interesting is the phone version I got displays encouragements to interface with people while doing this or even have people fill it out for themselves on your phone. Yet the web screen as you've shown and I've seen as well doesn't have those encouragements.pic.twitter.com/yXTZnHo8tn

There may also be a diffeeence between instructions for community canvassing and inputting peoples info you know. But even still if people just go out knocking doors without a script or better guidance it could be not good.

This is what happens when you canvass. Anyone who has ever done it knows this.

When you are given tools similar to this when canvassing you are given a targeted list, and when you contact someone they can tell you they want to be removed and you remove them. This is not very much like that.

And canvassers are trained!

And canvassers TALK TO THE VOTER to get information they don’t just enter random info on people without asking them any questions.
