    it's more like a temporary cancellation pending this one defendant filing a brief tuesday morning. but at this point, i'm expecting the law to go into effect because nothing matters anymore. The federal judiciary is 100% fucked.

    there's a clock. if the district court doesn't block the law, it goes into effect on wednesday. (that's why dickson's brief is due at 9 AM Tuesday.) If the 5th Cir says on Tues they have jurisdiction over Dickson, then the district court doesn't have jurisdiction and no hearing.

    It is a moral & failure that in our country access to a human right depends on where you live. It is amoral that healthcare infrastructure can be legislated & regulated by political extremists. We also deserve quality healthcare *in* TX.

    The most direct way is donating to regional & practical support funds. Everyone with LA appointments Monday will likely be cancelled - but won't be an option next week, like we usually are. So, next week people from TX and LA will be scrambling to OK, AR, MS, & AL.

    ok here's my analysis of the fuckery in texas. I don't for a minute truly think the 5th Cir. is going to come to clinics' rescue here. These are deeply conservative hyperpartisan rightwing Federalist Society numpties. Just assume the worst at this point.

    It appears the appeal from Mark Lee Dickson could get a ruling on Tuesday 8/31 which still gives the district court time to issue an injunction before the abortion ban goes into effect the next day 9/1 but cutting it extremelyyyy close

    If the 5th Circuit dismisses Dickson's appeal, then the district court can hold the preliminary injunction hearing at some point before 12:01 AM on September 1. The judge can still block it. If the 5th doesn't, then the dist court doesn't have jurisdiction which means no hearing
