The Nineties, rather than Sixties, were the defining decade for Boomers. This period -- of racial detente, monotonically increasing prosperity, a residually functioning sexual market-- permanently locked in the Boomer mindset.

Idk 90s was when PC started to get out of hand and blaq culture was everywhere. In the 80s there was more detente imo, all the blaq figures of the 80s had broad appeal

I think you're probably correct wrt race. Sailer and a few others have written how black cultural influence peaked in the 80s.

The major blaq acts of the 80s (Michael Jackson, Eddie Murphy, Lionel Richie, etc) weren't really viewed as culturally black. That started to change in the late 80s with NWA, then in the 90s you had stridently blaq Biggie, 2Pac, etc ofc the latter had plenty of white fans

Clinton's "moderate center - left" shtick also got burned into their dogma.

The ‘60s and the ‘90s are the boomer’s “If you can’t take me at my ___ you don’t deserve me at my ___”

The 90s started with a bang for them: defeat of that perennial boomer hang-up, the Soviet Union/Russia (these are identical to the boomer) and rise of the US to undisputed #1 but with only civic elements as would be proven soon by the US protecting Muslims in the Balkans

The latter of course being another favorite of boomers: America as obsessive hegemon of the muslim world and arbiter of their affairs (after getting a taste for it during Iraq War No.1) for God knows what reason at the cost of letting slip power everywhere else (Asia, Africa etc)

If Iraq was the first hit for boomers, Yugoslavia was the peak, that hit after which each rush gets weaker and weaker. They've been chasing that high ever since, hence the enthusiastic boomer support for America's new misadventures in the Middle East and antagonizing of Russia.

And also why boomers are entirely lukewarm on China (and by extension North Korea), despite China being without a doubt the largest threat to American hegemony. No nostalgic feelings of sticking it to the Rooskies or playing hall monitor for squabbling Muslims.

As a Gen-Xer I truly believed the 90s were the “end of history,” as Francis Fukuyama had suggested. And I hated it. I was convinced it would never change. It was like an eternal episode of Friends. Today’s world is much better.

This is a great point. Seems everyone agrees 90s were a golden age, if viewed as end point of 60s "struggle" could definitely retroactively justify everything. "Indian Summer" closer to my view though.
