If, at that funeral, they were dedicating an "excellent parent" monument to the deceased (Steve) and offering an annual "excellent parent like Steve" award for those that emulated Steve's parenting, it would be appropriate for someone to mention Steve was actually a shit parent.

dude doesn't seem to have much feel for how much pain and awkwardness can be caused by a rando innocently reciting funeral boilerplate that's grotesquely untrue in the specific instance either

sometimes there are nice things you *don't* say of the deceased bc all you'll accomplish by saying it is to remind the people attending how far from the truth it really was, at the worst possible time
