Is there even a single 19th century novel that isn't in some way fixed on inheritance & estates? It seems like there are conclusions to draw from the disappearance of this theme in popular culture.

Hahaha that's funny. And it's a great point but also one that has an alternate reading. That the concern with inheritance and legacy was due to the erosion of such things beginning in the 19th C
