UNMC is currently predicting our peak to be May 5th. IHEM model for beginning to reopen Nebraska is June. 2/3rds of current Nebraska cases are in rural areas. Areas with an aging population and limited access to health care.

We are seeing outbreaks in Grand Island, Hastings, and Lexington. The situation with JBS has yet to be resolved. We still don’t have enough testing and our tracing is not up to par. Speaking of reopening is dangerous and it’s putting money over people.

I do NOT support reopening at this time and encourage all Nebraskan’s to continue with social distancing and staying home if you can. I know it’s hard, but reopening too soon will only make it worse. Please stay home Nebraska.
