Angeles National Forest firefighters & law enforcement joined local agencies & community organizations in support of the Special Olympics Southern California's Summer Games Championship this past weekend. Over 1K+ athletes competed in basketball, swimming, flag football & more.

Prescribed burn projects near Liebre Mountain (30 acres burned) and Chilao (20 acres burned) have concluded for today. Firefighters will continue to monitor the area for any remaining sources of heat. Smoke may be visible in surrounding areas.

Firefighters burned 30 acres of hazardous vegetation during the Liebre Ridge prescribed fire today. Smoke may still be seen in nearby areas. Firefighters will monitor the area overnight. If weather and conditions allow, the prescribed burn project will continue tomorrow.

Firefighters completed prescribed fire activities in Chilao today. Crews continued "mop up" & patrolled the area. "Mop up" includes breaking apart smoldering debris & extinguishing hot spots so they cannot ignite unburned areas.
