I sometimes wonder if part of the problem re. pursuing cases of FGM lie in the fact that Circumcision is allowed? They are both mutilation made in the name of religion

Circumcision is one thing, medically carried out sometimes - and from horses mouths, doesnt affect the sex life of men. Removing a clitoris is slightly different

I take your point: whilst I have no issue with it performed medically, it is still done culturally to babies and deaths reported through infections. FGM is vile, but do think it’s mixed up with the practice of allowing circumcision.

It could be a case of reticence to prosecute in case of inevitable 'whataboutery' but fgm has a specific law regarding it - & too many non-jewish little boys have foreskins removed for medical reasons to even consider lumping it in together
