13 years, by a remarkable coicidence, being how long you were in power for WITHOUT renationalising them last time.

Under the Blairites - but Corbyn is now in control. Perhaps you missed the news.
-
The Blairites promised to renationalise the trains too. Labour's promoses don't count for shit.

Hilarious. The biggest rail privatisation of the decade was enabled by a Labour Government back in May. A brand new railway privatised by the Jeremy Party.pic.twitter.com/l8NHRD07qa

Oh christ don't tell his followers that - they tend to forget about
#LabourRunWales when they're spouting their#RealChange bullsh*t. Scotland woke up to their cronyism and#PFI#EqualPay debts. Wales is slowly getting roused out their slumber too. -
Ah lovely Wales where Jeremy fails to mitigate the Bedroom Tax. Oh buts it’s not the same party ..

-
Or where OAPs are sitting until the year 2020 to get hip replacement operations. In
#LabourRunWales - but but it's all Westminster's fault according to the Assembly, yet when@theSNP point out the same block grant cuts - they're the ones implementing austerity

So the people who pay the rises now is some of the country, but if Labour get in, the whole country will pay for their spending plans. How is that fair?
-
Because a reliable, comprehensive, environmentally-progressive national rail infrastructure is a benefit to the whole country, not just those who directly use it.
-
and there is no way that Labour can guarantee that either
-
All progressive countries understand the need for a comprehensive, efficient and effective public transport system. We are way behind on this issue.

You’ve decided nationalisation is the answer without even looking what the problem is. Why are our railways more expensive. Age of Infrastructure ? Level of subsidy ? More thought and less ideology please.
-
Don't you think it's strange that some of our rail is owned by foreign governments? So the subsidies we pay for our rail services are going straight to France, Germany etc. to help their rail services. lowering their fares, increasing ours.
-
Not really, I’m not really bothered who owns trains. Ok, the Govt might save 1% on cost of capital v. Pvt market, but it’s a complete red herring.
-
So you think it makes more sense for a foreign government to own/manage, & profit from our rail services than it would do for our own to do so? Makes sense.
-
Business us not your thing, is it?
-
Would you like to elaborate instead of asking some silly little rhetorical question? If you have an asset that makes money, why would you want your competitor to own it rather than yourself?

Why does labour want the tax payer to subsidise Rail users who are —on average— richer. This is a regressive tax policy.
-
Taxpayers already subsidise the railways, to the tune of about £5 billion per year. That’s about three times what it was when nationalisation came to an end in the 80’s (adjusted for inflation).
