Tile < Block < Chunk < Screen? What's the difference between block and chunk? why both?

Blocks are 2x2 tiles then the chunks are 2x2 blocks. A screen is 8x7 chunks. This structure saves bytes, makes things more consistent

256 8*8px tiles, those make blocks and chunks. I think Metroid worked like this. It stamped down big chunks of blocks.

And it's not just space saving, it also saves work when doing map editing. You don't want to plop down each 8*8 tile manually.

Metroid repeats screens on top of that, yeah. Map/Screen/ChunkStamp/Block/Tile is the hierarchy.
