And if the kidnapper had overpowered him and shot both of them , statistically guns often lead to more deaths, one of anecdotal tales are no substitutes or hard facts of gun deaths...

My cousins are vets, now in law enforcement, and I would be inclined to agree. Though, is it worth it to point out single instances like this and turn them into news? It makes these events seem more rare and one-off, when they likely happen much more regularly than people realize
