Seven months later, I received information requested from the feds. Late, but received nonetheless. But what did I get? Thousands of line items that once lived in a spreadsheet, now in a scanned low quality 74-page PDF. Some pages portrait, others landscape. Time to clean data!

It’s also interesting that Town of Souris allows a commercial operation in an R3 zone. Landowner claims this property is going commercial, that’s the section of the Act they’re trying to use, but this is not reflected in the zoning. What a shitshow.

And for the employees who move in, are they being asked to sign something that contravenes rental laws around evictions? I ask this because what will happen to an employee if they leave the job?

I know some employers love sell their workplace as having a family-like culture 🤮, but I don’t think that metaphor extends to the rules that allow landlords to evict tenants to make way for a family member to move in. This will be an interesting IRAC case to watch.

Charlottetown extended its contract with Trius to operate transit for an additional ten years. Stratford and Cornwall are also part of the agreement, unsure if they’ve extended yet. This contract keeps being extended, it’ll be 28 years old when this most recent extension expires.

They’re 100% right. This also applies to healthcare. Politicians love to put shovels in the ground; politicians spend your money on buildings that go up during their term, then point at them when reoffering, “look at all we’ve done!” But without staff, buildings are useless.

Sam’s right. If it’s local and you love it, you gotta get out there and support it.

Every time a local business closes, people come out of the woodwork to say "if only we had known they were struggling! We would have visited more!" Y'all, you can just go ahead and assume that anything cool and local is struggling to some degree. It is very hard to be small.

On PEI it’s more affordable to lease a 2,000 sqft prime location retail space for a liquor store than renting a two bedroom apartment. PEILCC renewed its lease in West Royalty for $168k over ten years.

Pro tip from a previous life (old job): all the slush on your car will freeze, you know that. But the slush around / under your wiper arms could cause the arms / links to break when you try using them tomorrow morning, or ruin the wiper motor. Go clean all the slush away now. 👍

Dear , It’s 2023; web comments are irrelevant and a waste of resources. We’ve learned over the last 20 years that having the ability to attach a comment to a news article contributes nothing meaningful, and acts solely as a gathering place for trolls.

All-in-all, it was a six month process for me from the day I said enough was enough and set out to figure this out once and for all. It seems wrong that people with the resources and means can get this done years sooner than someone without.

I paid $1,800 to avoid this bottleneck. I’m almost 40, I don’t want to waste more time. Received an assessment and report within 30 days. Then it took three months to access treatment when I had to go to the public system for referrals and prescription.

And another way dozens of subscribers have been supporting me is by sharing the newsletter with friends. Word of mouth / referrals counts for over 70% of subscribers. That’s as good as money because it saves me from having to buy social ads to reach new readers.

So as ppl join, they tell me what’s missing, then I build it in. I only have 10 hours a week to spare, but I’m getting better at finding stuff I can churn out quickly while staying accurate. It’s a learning process, but imagine what I could do full time, or with another person.

I get a few emails each week from readers telling me they love what I’m doing and how I do it, then they tell me what’s missing: Seniors want more connection to the community, newcomers have no idea what’s going on and they want more connection the community.

👀 Charlottetown is hiring a Sustainability Project Coordinator on an 18 month contract. This is an awesome opportunity for someone looking to make a big impact on how our city sets up its policies, programs and bylaws in regard to climate action efforts.

If PEI is serious about being a multicultural province that’s welcome to everyone, then public resources should not be used to install religious symbols on public property. The church has a lot of money and a lot of tax-free land to spread its messages.

As we look back on 2022, let’s hope that in 2023 the Island’s privately-owned transit operator switches from PDF schedules to something that’s actually user friendly. 🚏

Some were into Superman, others Batman. I was into Beavis and Butt-Head. I had a lot of these comics as a kid, but lost them over the years. Yesterday, thanks to , I now have 75% of the comic’s full run. Thanks, Jeff — These comics rule! Huh-huh.

What’s one thing you wanted for Christmas as a child that you just had to have, but it turned out to be a total disappointment? I’ll go first: Rescue 911 Chopper Rescue race track. What a piece of disappointing trash that thing turned out to be.
