Wanted - DBMS communities to agree on the value X such that perf regressions >= X are a bug and < X not a bug -- for comparisons between major releases. Is it even possible to agree on this?
IDK. I feel there's valid trade-offs to be made between accelerating common cases and slightly decelerating rare but existing cases. What's the point of treating the latter as a bug?

This is about regressions to common operations. Perhaps you are more optimistic than I am .

Well, the thing is that every user will think that their workload is common. So it feels like it largely just moves the point of contention.
