These so-called ‘flexible #tariffs’ are a marriage of two lethal poisons to economic growth – protectionism and uncertainty. Trade wars are not won, they are only lost. Congress cannot be complicit as the administration courts economic disaster. 1/2

I will immediately draft and introduce legislation to nullify these tariffs, and I urge my colleagues to pass it before this exercise in protectionism inflicts any more damage on the economy. https://www.flake.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=8E3CF1A5-D859-46B1-863F-6F9E00F78724 …

Replying to @JeffFlake
While you’re at it could you also introduce a few articles of impeachment?

He literally can't, that needs to happen in the house.

Here’s a handy chart on the legislative process. Note the top of the curve (senators can introduce a bill) still has to pass the house after going through the senate.pic.twitter.com/tujO1VAcbN

"The House of Representatives shall choose their speaker and other officers; and shall have the sole power of impeachment.". The Senate *tries* the impeachment, but it has to be introduced in the house. Similar to seperation between indictment & trial. https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/articlei …

Ah sorry didn’t realize you were replying to a private account. It looks like you’re replying to the senator.
